In the beginning

Sam and Lucy start the business in 300m2 factory in Thomastown. Sam would take orders by day and together they would make the beds at night.

1981
Second Factory

Second Factory

Expansion to second factory next door to meet growing demand. Took on first employee and soon grew to 5 full time employees.

1983
Enabling Growth

Enabling Growth

Bought first block of land (they had been leasing up until now) in nearby Wood Street, and built first purpose-built bedding factory. This factory was 1000m2, triple the size of their first building. Workforce expanded to around 15 full time employees. Major accounts in Melbourne and Sydney enabled further growth.

Holt Parade

Holt Parade

Moved to current premises in Holt Parade (3,500 m2). Invested more than $1 Million in factory floor equipment including spring and quilting machines. Grew to 30 employees making beds full time. Expansion into other states of Australia.

Major renovations

Major renovations

Major renovation of the Holt Parade factory, taking it from 3,500 to 5,000 m2. Sam and Lucy sons Michael and David are now full time employees in the business. Work force grows to more than 50 full time staff and first major international export to Japan to follow soon afterwards. First major award for excellence in bedding manufacturing.

New Land

New Land

Purchase of land next door in Holt Parade to expand operations. Output of 250+ beds per day. Comfort Sleep now receives global sourcing of machinery, materials, and innovative ideas to continue to improve their products.
